An ESTA (officially known as the Electronic System for Travel Authorisation) is part of the United States Visa Waiver program. It lets you visit the US for a period of 90 days or less without the need for a visa - as long as it's for a holiday or a business trip.An ESTA is open to all citizens of visa waiver countries.
You are a citizen or eligible national of a Visa Waiver Program country, with 39 countries included in the VWP.
You may apply for ESTA as many times as necessary, although you may have to pay the fee each time.
You must have a passport that is valid for at least 6 months after your planned departure from the United States (unless exempted by country-specific agreements).
A recent visa refusal for any reason could result in denial of ESTA authorization, additional review at the port of entry, or denial of admission to the United States even though it concerns a previous passport. If you are uncertain if you qualify for VWP travel, you may choose to apply for a visa.
An applicant's current and/or past actions, such as drug or criminal activities, as examples, may make the applicant ineligible for a visa. If denied a visa, in most cases the applicant is notified of the section of law which applies.
If you already have an approved ESTA, you may still be denied entry to the United States without a visa refusal. On the one hand, the ESTA or any other visa does not guarantee that you can enter the USA. The customs and border guards alone decide whether you are allowed to enter or not.
Individuals who possess a valid visa will still be able to travel to the United States on that visa for the purpose for which it was issued.Individuals traveling on valid visas are not required to apply for ESTA.
90 Days
When traveling to the United States with the approved ESTA, you may only stay for up to 90 days at a time and there should be a reasonable amount of time between visits so that the CBP Officer does not think you are trying to live here. There is no set requirement for how long you must wait between visits.
You will not be permitted to travel to the U.S. until you have applied for ESTA again, using correct information, and receive authorization. If your application is rejected due to an error in entering information, do not panic; wait at least 24 hours and then apply for ESTA again.
There is no limit on the number of times you may enter the U.S. under either ESTA of a visa. However, if reentering the U.S. using ESTA soon after staying for nearly 90 days, you can expect to be questioned in detail by the immigration officer about the purpose of your visit.
In order to check your status you can use our convenient Check ESTA Service. For data protection reasons, some information is required for the status query.
Validity of your Passport
Your passport must be valid for more than 6 months from the date of travel. Submitting invalid or damaged passports are often a common reason for US visa rejection. Also, ensure your passport has minimum two blank pages.
